Builders
The cars matter, but they are not the reason this exists.
This section documents the people who live with these vehicles day to day.
Owners, builders, mechanics, and friends who spend their time in garages, parking lots, and on the street—often without an audience.
No rankings.
No personalities for hire.
No performances.
Just people and the machines they keep around.
What This Section Is
-
The **Builders** archive exists to preserve context.
Every feature is a snapshot in time:
- Where someone is in their life
- Where the car is in its current state
- Why the two coexist
Nothing here is presented as final.
Cars change. Circumstances change. People move on.
This archive simply records what was true at the moment it was documented
-
How People Are Documented
Each entry includes:
- A name or alias
- A general location within San Diego
- The car or cars currently in their possession
- A short interview
- Photographs taken in the environment where the car exists
- A brief observational note
-
What We Avoid
- No influence-driven narratives
- No “build reveal” language
- No hero framing
- No before-and-after tropes
-
Participation
This is not an application process.
If someone is already part of the car community here, they don’t need permission to exist in this archive.
If you believe a person or story belongs here, you can reach out.
Whether it is documented depends on access, timing, and fit—not popularity.
